We made it to Salina, Kansas, yesterday afternoon without a hotel booked, so Julia found something online called the Scottish Lodge.
When we pulled up a gravel road into the middle of some farmland, we were pretty sure we had the wrong place. It looked more like a giant McMansion than a lodge.
Nope. Right place.
And somehow we basically had the whole McMansion to ourselves, including what I can only describe as the honeymoon suite.
We went into town for dinner at an Italian place with gluten-free options. I had steak and tilapia. It was okay, but very, very, very salty. I’ve never understood why restaurants don’t just let people add their own salt instead of making that decision for everyone.
This morning Julia rescued a frog from the pool while I percolated some coffee.
Our welcome basket also included a $30 gift card to a local coffee shop, so we’re heading there to grab some free sandwiches for the road.
About six and a half or seven hours left today, and then this trip is pretty much wrapped up.
