Made it to Harrison and checked into the hotel, which is pretty nice and historic.
Still hot as all hell, and I’m struggling with it more than I expected. I pretty much have to be inside, which means either in the truck or in the hotel, and my back is locked up like Shawshank.
I’m also a little worried about off-roading in this heat with basically no water around. The Buffalo River is reportedly low enough that it can essentially disappear underground for miles in places, so I don’t think there’s going to be much cooling effect out there.
The rigs and ourselves are going to be under maximum stress in these conditions, and that’s definitely not something I train for or particularly want to experience, to be honest.
So for now I took a nap, went to Walmart, did some laundry at the laundromat, and I’m having dinner before I retire for the night.
